The Location                                            

Discover English is located in the heart of the Melbourne central business district, surrounded by an exciting range of shopping malls, art galleries, the head offices of multinational corporations and cuisine from every corner of the planet. 

The city of Melbourne is surrounded by parks that provide a beautiful place to study, socialise and energise!

Our college is located on vibrant Bourke Street, with convenient access to tram, train and bus services.

The College Campus                               

We specialise in English language courses using the latest methods, materials and equipment.  Our classes are modern and comfortable.  Students have a fully-resourced library where you can study and practice your language skills using 2010 computers with both visual and audio software.

Our student lounge is a great place to relax and mix with other students from different countries.  We also offer quiet small lounge areas to relax with your laptop and make use of our free wireless internet.  Students can also enjoy the rooftop outdoor deck area and soak up the city views.

Accommodation                                     

Homestays

Homestays benefit students by introducing them to Australian culture and family life. Homestay facilitates cultural exchange and provides students with the opportunity to constantly practise English with Australian families. Students learn about Australian culture by immersing themselves in it, experiencing new food, activities, and attitudes, but they are also encouraged to practise English.

Homestay includes accommodation and food. Breakfast and dinner are supplied on weekdays, with three meals per day on weekends. 

Student Lodge

Discover English can place students in a well appointed student lodge. Students get a studio apartment with access to a kitchen, pool, gym and range of other services.

Apartments & Share Accommodation

If you prefer to have your own living arrangement, we can assist with some great deals on self-contained apartments or shared living arrangements with other students.  All accommodation services we recommend are checked by Discover English, so you can be assured you are staying in a safe environment.

Here are a few pointers on how to find somewhere to live while you're studying with Discover English. 

1.) Be specific about the area you want to live in and the amount you can afford to pay.  Melbourne is a pretty big place, so an easy way to decide where you'd like to live is to stroll around a few neighbourhoods and see if you'd feel comfortable there.   

2.) Keep transport links in mind and make sure you'll find it easy to travel to and from the Discover English campus. Some property websites, like http://www.nestoria.com.au for example, present their rental properties on maps that also show local transport stops and stations.If you're planning to use a car then you need to make sure that you've somewhere to park it! 

3.) Let technology help you.  You'll find many accommodation options are listed online, and while school noticeboards and newspapers will have some ads. That being said, you'll find more in one place if you look on the Internet.

Discovery Club

Regular events at Discover English

At Discover English we believe in giving our students every opportunity to extend their language skills and to engage in cross cultural exchange.  As part of that we have the Discovery Club which is a student lead activity that we assist in organising but that the students lead.  In the past we have had a Frech crepe party, an Ikebana demonstration, a mahjong lesson, an Italian pizza lunch and a musical concert. Also, recently Waan led a Thai cooking demonstration for Green Papaya Salad and Giuseppe taught us how to make authentic Italian cabonara pasta.

The Discovery Club is a great way for students to mingle across levels and to exchange ideas and cultures.  If you have something you would like to teach, demonstrate or perform then please come and see us and we will help you to promote it.

Free Job Seminars

Weekly on Tuesdays at Discover English

Discover English offers students more - free Job Seminars every Tuesday.

Every Tuesdat, as part of the Discover English Activities Program,  there is a free Job Seminar 304 on level 3.  Free for all current Discover English students and members of the Discover Family, the Job Seminars are  a great way to get yourself ready for the job hunt.

We also have an internal jobs page where local jobs are advertised for our current students.

Free Weekly Conversation Classes

Every Friday at Discover English

Every Friday at Discover English all students can join a free conversation class.

Every Friday there are free conversation classes at 2pm. Students of all levels are welcome (as are Discover Family members) as multiple levels are run.
